volusionVolusion, inc is a shopping cart solution for small, medium, and large businesses. Based in Austin, TX and Simi Valley, CA they are quickly expanding with over 150 employees and with clients processing over $2 billion in sales in 2009. Volusion is one of the largest ecommerce solutions having helped 100,000 entrepreneurs set up their own online store.

A problem that many small businesses face is that they want to expand their business to have a strong online presence, but without a website that is functional, looks good, and has the ability to securely accept credit cards they would not make any new sales. Volusion is a complete ecommerce solution meaning that it not only provides shopping cart functionality but it also handles the web hosting, credit card processing, web content management, inventory management, and email marketing.

Volusion is designed to take care of all the small details of an online store that you might otherwise have to do without if you go with an in-house design. If you have ever tried setting up an online store yourself without going through a large provider you would know that every time you want to add a little feature it can consume a large amount of time. For example many online stores don’t come with an integrated affiliate program, coupon code functionality, search engine optimization, email marketing system, or social media integration. Each of these can have a significant impact on your marketing, and unless people are visiting the store you won’t be making any sales. Continue review... Volusion Review

corecommerceCoreCommerce is an ecommerce solution that has operated by Sum Effect Software since 2008 from their Franklin, Tennessee offices. Over 13,000 stores worldwide use CoreCommerce as their shopping cart management software, the majority of which are small to medium sized businesses. Noteworthy clients include Clear Channel Radio, GE, Thomas Nelson Publishers, and Michigan State.

CoreCommerce was designed to be an all inclusive hosted software package, instead of simply giving you software to install on your server you are actually receiving web hosting service through web hosting industry leader Rackspace. This means that everything you need to start your ecommerce site can be done right through CoreCommerce, including a domain name, hosting, ability to accept credit cards, design your site, write content, etc.

This software is specifically designed to make it possible for entrepreneurs and small business owners to be able to start an ecommerce store without requiring a web design background. There is definitely a learning curve, it will probably at least take a week or two to get used to it, but overall it is very straightforward to use and it is one of those things that requires minimal effort once it is up and running. The real effort will come with finding ways to market your business and ensure that you are able to ship out products efficiently. Continue review... CoreCommerce Review
