The great thing about HostGator is that they don't pull your leg with their plans, if they say that they will give you 350 GB of storage space they mean that they will give you 350 GB of storage. Many web hosts have begun to hide things in their terms of service in order to stay competitive (outwardly) and then hit their customers with overage charges or cancel their accounts without notice. HostGator has been in the industry since 2002 and with their current plan of 600 GB storage and 6000GB transfer they are likely to continue to be the leader of the pack for many years to come.
Reliability & Perfomance (25/25)
HostGator has 4 data centers, averaging 50,000 sq. ft. each with full HVAC, data air units, raised floors, 1.5-3.5 megawatt generators (equivalent energy output of 900 homes), up to 5GB/s direct fiber connection, and a cisco certified network using Cisco 6500 Series Distribution Routing Switches & Aggregation Switches with OC48 Sonet Ring fiber connections intra-building. This translates to absolutely amazing uptime, perfomance, and overall stability.
Control Panel & Software (21/25)
HostGator uses the famous "cPanel" control panel software. It is the industry standard for control panels and it has proven itself to be extremely easy to use while still offering many different features. Some of these features include visitor tracking, search engine submissions, forums, email, domain management, file systems, etc. HostGator also has "Fantastico" enabled which allows you to get content management systems, blog software (such as WordPress), shopping cars, and other various scripts with a couple clicks.
Customer Support (22/25)
HostGator goes a step beyond every other company when it comes to customer support, they offer to allow you to speak to the owner himself if regular support for some reason is not sufficient. With a highly trained staff of 160 customer service employees operating 365/24/7 with a company that is quickly taking over the lions share of the hosting industry, it is safe to assume that any inquiry can be answered and that it will be answered in an extremely prompt and effective manner. They also offer a 45 day money back guarantee in case for some reason talking to the owner of the company is not enough for you.

HostGator is one of those companies that makes you truly scratch your head, because it is amazing that they are able to provide all of the resources that they do for the price you have to pay. The sheer computing power of their 4 U.S. based data centers is absolutely incredible and allows they to provide a far more reliable service than any other web host today. We could not recommend them more, after our HostGator review was finished we almost switched to them ourselves.
