HostGator cpanelHostGator LLC is the one of the largest shared web hosting companies in the world, with over 1% of all internet traffic being hosted on one of 7,000 HostGator servers from their Houston, Texas location. Started in 2002 HostGator was recently ranked as the 21st fastest growing private company in America, and ranked as the fastest growing private company in Texas. With over 4,000,000 domains hosted on their servers, and with over 225,000 clients they are constantly hiring new employees. HostGator is now a certified green web hosting company, as they get all of the power for their business from wind energy.

Setting up a CMS (content management system) makes it much easier to manage your website, I would recommend using WordPress for blogging, phpBB for forums, and either Joomla or Drupal for everything else. ipoweriPower is one of the fastest growing and largest web hosting companies in operation, they have been around since 2001 and they have grown substantially since. They now have more than 700,000 customers across over 100 countries. iPower is well known for offering inexpensive web hosting, they do offer some e-commerce packages and such for higher prices but most people use them for their standard shared web hosting package.

The focus of iPower is on small to medium sized businesses as well as home applications, if you have a company that anticipates millions of visitors per month you will need a dedicated server (about $6,000/year) but for the vast majority of us a shared web hosting option will work perfectly fine. Their “Pro” option has “unlimited” bandwidth and storage capacity, as well as allowing you to host unlimited domain names. I use a similar service to host about 20 domain names and I am still nowhere near my limits. Continue review... iPower Review
